Off the block this is fast by Microsoft Standards. It took me all of under 30 minutes to install Microsoft 7 and once done it was up and running without any issues immediately. I had a completely workable system in another 15 minutes just by downloading the bare essentials like an antivirus, Google Pack and installing Microsoft Office 2007. I believe the age of the Netbook and probably Chrome OS is upon us since apart from the installation of Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2007, and Google Pack I did not require anything else to run or play any file that I wanted barring the exception of WinRAR. Of course being the creature of habit that I am, I did get more freeware for the system but that is only because I prefer them over what is provided by Microsoft or Google.
Getting back to Windows 7, it is impressive. After using it for the better part of the day I have come away impressed. Microsoft has corrected itself where it went wrong with Microsoft Vista and though the appearance in terms of the look and feel of Windows 7 is primarily that of Microsoft Vista it performs a lot better and is a lot more responsive and less buggy as an operating system. One constant issue I had with Microsoft Vista was that new drivers were not available and the old ones were never compatible. I could never get my webcam and my Creative SoundBlaster to work on Windows Vista because of this problem. On Windows 7 the Creative SoundBlaster was updated with the very latest set of drivers and that too from 2009. I will post in more detail my thoughts and experiences with Windows 7 after more of a trial run and also on 64-bit freeware and software so stay tuned in.
