This is so true and yet so easily forgotten by everyone. We have all heard the story from childhood about a person able to break a single stick very easily, but tie a number of sticks together and they cannot be broken. That is true for a cord of a single thread which is so easily broken, but again with multiple cords it cannot be broken.
Recently I’ve come across two households which are divided amongst themselves. Of particular interest to me personally is a family in which the children (a brother and a sister) are both born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. By praying together and standing together in agreement in prayer they were able to get their parents saved. They were both blessed immensely and both have successful careers. Even otherwise both enjoyed good health and have great lives. Most of this success was attributed to both being prayer partners and sharing in each other’s prayer needs. Even the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 18:19 “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” There is power in unity and that holds true in the spiritual realm too and not just the natural world.
Anyway to get back to the story of the brother and sister, well they recently had an argument and sort of stopped talking to each other. No more are their prayer needs or requests shared and the upshot of this is that at present both are sick and in bed for the better part of a week and more. Like the Lord Jesus Christ said in Mark 3:25 “If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Alas this house (or rather family) finds themselves in trouble precisely for this very reason. This is so much true especially for families and today there is an even greater need for families to stick together and bond even more. Well I sure hope the brother and sister read this and get back to praying together and for each other and sharing their prayer needs and requests.
