The Importance Of Having A Prayer Room!

The last 3 days or so I’ve been locking myself into a secluded room and praying almost the entire day i.e. beginning from 11 a.m. and wrapping up around 6-7 p.m. with of course breaking for lunch and some tea. This is giving me a good 5-6 hours of quality prayer time on a daily basis and there are things I’m learning as the Lord Jesus Christ is revealing them to me especially about the importance of a prayer room. Well before I get into sharing about them let’s backup a bit!

I was born again as a very young man and then very obviously backslid. On being “reborn again” or rather rededicating myself to follow and serve the Lord Jesus Christ as a young man I was also taught on the Holy Spirit and how to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit and also received the baptism of the Holy Spirit very early on. Praying in tongues since then has become a way of life for me and also the mainstay of my prayer life and spiritual walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. I would get on the roof of my house and spend hours every day starting after dinner and going well past midnight. This meant a good 5-6 hours or even more of praying in the spirit on a daily basis. This also ensured my spiritual growth was pretty rapid and pretty early on I was operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, praying for the sick and watching them get healed, casting out demons, prophesying and just about everything else that is associated with a born again Holy Spirit filled believer. As I grew up I did what was expected of me i.e. got a job and the Lord Jesus Christ blessed me and prospered me at my workplace. Very soon as a young man I had my own house, my own car and just about everything that is associated with successful living. However along this line of walk, I got busier and busier with work and could no more spare or spend long hours praying in seclusion. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I did not pray. Ever since I’ve been born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit I’ve always placed a lot of emphasis on praying in tongues and especially on Ephesians 6:18 ”praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”, more so the first part of this scripture praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. In other words I’m always praying in tongues, you can find me muttering under my breath most of the time and this is something I do always. The prayer had not gone down. The spending time alone with God in a secluded place like the roof of my house or a prayer room had however gone for a toss. Well you might wonder what’s the difference as long as you are praying, whether it’s in a secluded place or in a crowded place? Praying in tongues can be done just about anywhere and at anytime right? Yes, that’s right, but to answer the difference between praying in a secluded place and in a crowded place, well that’s what this blog aims to do.

The biggest and most important benefit to having a secluded room for prayer is that you begin to hear God clearly. Praying in a crowded area means God hears your prayer and even answers them, but your spirit and your spiritual ears are not tuned in to hear what God is saying. Revelation starts pouring into your spirit as if someone turned on the light. It goes without saying that knowing what to do, when to do and how to do is probably the most important “knowledge” anyone can require or ask for. Even in terms of our present modern day technology it’s the “Information Technology” that holds the key. Apart from this you are more at ease to share your heart with God. It’s tough to bare your heart with people around you. When you are all alone with Father God you can speak your mind and share your heart’s innermost desires. Another huge benefit is that when you announce and retreat to the prayer room you will be left alone and not disturbed because people know you are going to pray. This kind of privacy and being left alone is just not possible in a crowded place or even with just other family members around you. This is just a starter and there are many more wonderful things that will happen once you have a secluded prayer room to be all alone with God. I will share more on this important subject as the Lord lays more revelation on my heart so stay tuned.

    Rajiv,
Thank you for your blessed postings. You are a God send. I was searching for more info on a still small voice and I came across your blog. It seems that the site that it is attached to is for cooking though, and from the homepage I was not sure how to get to the rest of the blogs. Am I missing something? Keep up the great work.

    Ryan
