Should Born Again Believers Associate With Unbelievers?

Just a thought that ran across my mind as I was reading this passage from 2 Corinthians 6:14-18…

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."
"I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

We follow/advocate/preach the first part very vehemently i.e. the part about marrying only a born again believer, at least in churches where the Word of God is preached and churches that are Holy Spirit filled and Holy Sprit led. How about the latter part of the passage then? It is crystal clear with no ambiguity or room for misinterpretation/argument. The Word of God clearly says “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Hmmm, lots of food for thought here. I am sure lots of waiting on the Lord will be involved to get a clear-cut picture/interpretation of how this applies in our lives and especially in relation to unbelievers that we associate with and come across in our daily lives be it at work, our neighborhood, while travelling, etc.
