Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of God…

We have all heard this right from our childhood probably from Sunday School itself (Matthew 6:33). But what does it really mean to seek the Kingdom of God first? Sadly very few have understood what our Lord Jesus Christ meant by this and very few of our churches too have grasped this to even begin imparting this to the saints and the church at large. The most prevalent thought is to seek salvation and ensure your entry into heaven and then the rest of the things will be added to you (probably in heaven). But that’s not what our Lord Jesus Christ meant. The Kingdom of Heaven is not something we will enter into when we die and have chosen Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (or else it’s Hell). In fact we can choose, seek and enter in the Kingdom of Heaven right now on earth (Matthew 12:28, Luke 17:21) and when we begin doing that all the other things will indeed be added to us. By all the other things yes I do mean the houses, cars, clothes, holidays and just about every good thing in life.

How does this work you might be wondering so let me get right to the point. God created man for fellowship i.e. to spend time with and in communion with God. Man lost all of that when he fell with the sinning of Adam. By the eternal sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross God righted that wrong and opened the door for all of humanity to fellowship and commune with Him provided they accept His Son Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Savior. Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Savior and then begin to fellowship with the Father and the Son then you have eternal life immediately (not something in the future) (John 17:3) and as you continue in this fellowship seeking the Kingdom of God first all the rest of the things like houses, cars, clothes, holidays and just about every good thing will indeed be added to you.
