Process Tamer is a good piece of software that does exactly what its name suggests, that it will tame the processes on your system. Process Tamer is a 3 MB file that is available as donationware from Donation Coder. Coming to Process Tamer, I read up a lot of reviews about it before going for this software and most of the reviews, as can be checked out on Google, are quite positive and I must state that I have been using Process Tamer now for nearly a couple of years without any complaints whatsoever and in fact Process Tamer does exactly what it claims i.e. it tames processes that take up high CPU usage on the system. You can configure various options and even set the threshold level beyond which you want Process Tamer to kick in and start taming a process i.e. if a particular process takes more than 80% of the CPU or any other figure you decide on, Process Tamer will step in and tame the process reducing its load on the CPU. There is also the option of increasing the priority of foreground processes and also protect foreground process from CPU taming entirely. You can also set explicit rules for specific processes on how you want Process Tamer to act on them and under which situation, lots of configuration possible here. All in all Process Tamer is a good software and one you will not be disappointed with and like I stated before it’s available for free or rather as donationware and is a must have software especially if you are running an old system. You can however give Process Tamer a miss if you are using a system with a Dual Core processor or a system with even higher configuration.
