One of the greatest joys in my life is receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and along with it some great advice that I’ve not forgotten over the years. When I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit along with the evidence of speaking in tongues, I was taught to pray in tongues for an hour everyday especially for spiritual growth.
Well being hungry for God as I was that only meant I began to pray in tongues for 2-3 hours on an average everyday and sometimes that went up to as much as 5-6 hours in a single day. Looking back I can attribute my spiritual growth and growing and building of my spiritual muscles to this one particular activity of praying in tongues on a daily basis.
Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift one can receive (preceded only by the gift of salvation) and with it comes the greatest benefit of having God the Holy Spirit pray for you and on your behalf. To me it just does not get better than this. Sad to say there is a lot of misconception about this greatest gift of speaking in tongues and satan has robbed many of this wonderful gift and its many numerous blessings especially with a lot of wrong teaching and how unnecessary or unimportant it is. This is especially so because praying in tongues is the number one deterrent to the kingdom of darkness. I remember reading somewhere that “it is a demon-buster!” I’ve found especially that the more time I spend praying in tongues, the more discernment I get especially about any problem I’m facing or concerning any decision I’ve to make. Praying in tongues is also the number one way to break any hindrance especially when you do not know what is hindering you or what you need to pray for (Romans 8:26).
