Prayer Really Helps!

PrayerAs I am writing this, I am enjoying delicious Palak Pakodas (Spinach Fritters) made by my wife (yes I know lucky me!). However, as I look back to just 3 days ago I was sick with some throat infection wherein I could hardly enjoy anything I ate and in fact anything and everything I ate literally scalded by tongue and gave me severe burning on my tongue for quite a long time afterwards. One consequence of this illness was that I was unable to pray for some 4-5 days and in fact even my Bible reading was non existent. My wife and I decided to take matters into our own hands and decided to aggressively pursue our prayer time and decided to spend time in prayer and in reading the Word no matter how I felt or how bad things really were.

I remember my pastor telling me that when you are in trouble you need to run towards God and not away from Him since only He can fix all of your problems. Looking back I realize I should have ramped up my prayers and reading of the Word as soon as the first signs of illness arrived instead of using that as an excuse to not pray or read the Bible. Guess all of us make mistakes, but it’s important that I have learned from mine.

HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOURS?

Prayer and reading of the Bible are an essential part of a Believer’s life. They are like food, water and air to the Spirit. How long has it been since your Spirit has been fed? If it has been a long time then your Spirit would be weak meaning you are weak spiritually. You need to pray and read the Word on a daily and a regular basis and mind you it’s not an option, but a necessity just as we need food, water and air on a daily and regular basis for our physical sustenance.

One of the very first things that my wife and I decided when we got married was that we would put God above all else and before all else. To that end we have devoted time to praying together and reading the Word together on a daily basis. It has meant we have needed to sacrifice that movie on HBO and meant disciplining ourselves, but I can attest that it has been worth every sacrifice for the Presence and the blessings that our Lord has been pouring out into our lives.

It’s time you get on with prayer and reading of the Word and get your share of the Presence and the blessings that come associated with it.

Take care and God bless!

I would definitely endorse the importance of a prayer centered life. In every situation the first thing we as believers must do is pray. That is our part that we need to do before we expect God to do His part.
    God bless!
