Pongal Rice Recipe! Promise You Will Be Asking For More!

Ingredients:

  • Raw rice ½ cup
  • Moong dal ¼ cup
  • Onion, chopped 1 small
  • Fresh ginger, chopped 1 inch
  • Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
  • Cumin seeds ½ tsp
  • Peppercorn, crushed 1 to 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 6 to 8
  • Fresh coriander, chopped 3-4 sprigs
  • Water 4 cups
  • Oil ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method:

Wash and soak raw rice and moong dal. Heat oil in a pressure pan and add mustard and cumin seeds. When they start to pop, add chopped onions and sauté for a little while. Add chopped ginger and curry leaves and fry for a little while. Add soaked rice and moong dal, and crushed peppercorns. Fry for about 5 to 7 minutes. Add water and chopped coriander. Stir and pressure cook for two whistles. Serve hot sprinkled with a dash of ghee if desired.

    as you are using daal it helps easier digestion. really good!
