Pavan Kalyan’s latest movie Jalsa’s audio is out in the market and while I am no fan of Pavan Kalyan my wife is a very big fan of his. Obviously this means madam instructed me to get the audio of Jalsa and very obligingly I said yes honey and did the needful. Coming to the songs, well they are not out of the world like some of Pavan’s earlier movies. The title track “Jalsa” kicks things of in the right direction and Baba Sehgal is on this track singing in Telugu after a while and does a good job with Rita for company. Kay Kay is on the next track “My Heart Is Beating” and it’s a good enough peppy track with Kay Kay in fine form. Up next is “You & I” with the music director Devi Sri Prasad also lending vocals here and you do wish that Devi Sri Prasad would leave the singing to the professional singers and concentrate on what is his strength which is giving music since he is not blessed with a strong voice or distinct enough voice modulation to be a singer. As a result even though the song has a peppy beat still ends up being delivered in a deadpan delivery thanks to Devi Sri Prasad’s vocals. Ranjith next on “Chalore Chalore Chal (Telugu version)” another track on the album with good beats and certainly one of the better tracks on the entire album. It is certainly groovy and gets ones feet tapping and moving along to the song. Benny and Priya are on “Jennifer Lopez” the next track and no it’s not a song about the Diva, but rather contains references to Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Shakira, Beyonce and others with the hero presumably singing about the heroine, certainly not a song with high replay value. Next up is “Gaallo Thelinattunde” by Tippu and Gopika Poornima and it is another run of the mill mainstream song. Next up Devi Sri Prasad tries to do what Ranjith did on “Chalore Chalore Chal (Telugu version)” on “Chalore Chalore Chal (Hindi version )”, but again what by Ranjith is one of the best songs on the album is pretty ordinary thanks to Devi Sri Prasad’s vocals. The next track is a remix version of Kay Kay’s “My Heart Is Beating” and finally rounding up the album is “Jalsa (The Devi Mix)” with Baba Sehgal and Devi Sri Prasad doing duty and it’s a fast paced number to wrap things up.
Bottom-line, while it’s no breakthrough effort here, it should please the diehard Pavan Kalyan fan and should look good on the big screen when seen with Pavan in it, but certainly nothing that will be played after the movie is gone.
