Paneer Kebab Recipe!

in General,Recipes!

Paneer is a protein rich food used extensively in Indian cuisine. Paneer is readily available at most of the sweet shops or can be made easily at home too (I will post how to make paneer at home very soon). My mom was inspired to cook this dish after watching it being cooked on a television show. I have not personally tried this recipe yet, but the verdict given by my mom and sister was great. This makes a good evening snack or even serves as a starter.

Paneer Kebab Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Paneer, cut into rectangular strips 250 gm
  • Hung curd ¼ cup
  • Chat masala powder ½ tsp
  • Green chili paste 1-2 tsp
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • Garam masala powder ¼ tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2-3 tbsp

Method: Beat the curd to a smooth consistency. Add the chat masala powder, green chili paste, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste, and salt to taste. Mix thoroughly and add the paneer strips to it. Toss lightly taking care not to break the paneer strips. Make sure the marinade coats the paneer pieces on all sides and let stand for one-half hour. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the marinated paneer strips on a low flame till they turn golden brown on both sides. Serve hot garnished with tomatoes, onions, and beetroot.

Tip: If you feel the marinade is too dry you can add some more curd. Similarly you can increase or decrease the use of masala powders and green chili paste to suit your palate.
