My Wife Called Me A Genius – How Praying In Tongues Helps!

A couple of days ago there was a loud snap heard from my system and it just shutdown. Of course there was accompanying smell and it was obvious something had burnt and the system was expectedly down and not working. There was nothing much for me to do since I am not a hardware person and seeing that the system was not starting, I left it and decided to spend time praying in tongues. I lay down on my bed and started to pray in tongues. What does this make me? A Jesus freak as well as a tech freak!!! I soon got the impression/revelation/knowing in my spirit (call it anything, but you know when God speaks or reveals something to your spirit) that I should buy a new SMPS and replace the existing one and everything will be fine. Obviously overjoyed that it was not a major problem I continued to pray in the spirit and went to bed.

Next day morning worldly wisdom stepped in and I decided I would take the system to the repair guys I usually buy hardware from and have them check it out. My friends too had the same idea saying what if the motherboard too had crashed or developed a problem and that I should have it checked out too. All of this of course was contrary to the revelation I had received when praying in tongues, which was go buy an SMPS unit and fix it yourself at the end of the day when returning from work and all will be fine. Instead I chose to apply worldly wisdom and ended up lugging the heavy PC all the way to the hardware shop where I met the owner who informed the technicians would turn up only after 12 noon, no I could not leave the system there for fixing up, yes I would need to bring the system back after 12 noon, and yes they would close shop at 8.30 pm (the exact time I closed shop at work), and there was nothing much else that could be done about it. I ended up purchasing a new SMPS unit and lugging back the PC to my car and then onto office and after a hard day’s work returned home again lugging the heavy PC (when can we have light PCs from the PC makers of the world?) and ended up right where I should have started i.e. fixing up the SMPS myself in the comfort of my home.

All said and done I am not a hardware person so I unplugged the old SMPS one wire at a time and plugged in the new SMPS one wire at a time so I would not forget where each wire went and not end up making a mistake. That done, I unscrewed the old SMPS and screwed in the new SMPS and then the moment of truth plugged in the PC and turned it on and wow nothing happened! The PC would not kick start into life. Before doubts about the motherboard conking out or some other expensive hardware repair seeped into my mind, I just started to pray in tongues and then I set about changing some wiring. This done I asked my wife to throw the switch since she was nearer to it and wow the system roared into life. This was the exhilarating life defining moment when my wife responded with “Honey! You are a genius”.

Genius or not, one thing I can say is that God is involved in all of our problems and wants to help out always. It’s up to us whether we want to receive help or not and also when we receive help whether we end up following it or we end up throwing in worldly wisdom too to create a bad mix. It is obviously with experience one learns that the Spirit and the World are never in agreement and will never work out together. This is a lesson I have already learned the hard way, but I guess even I can forget to put it into practice all the time and do need to be reminded by God every once in a while what it means to Walk In The Spirit.
