Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop (Music) Is Dead!

Today morning I woke up to some real bad news of the passing away of Michael Jackson. Whatever else Michal Jackson was he was a gifted musician and in fact a verifiable genius in that regard. I have personally grown up listening to his music and have all of his albums. To me and my generation personally he was more of an icon and a music star that we grew up with and in particular grew up listening to. On that front I guess we were very lucky. The latter generations have only come to know Michael Jackson as “Wacko Jacko” amidst all the media circus and its frenzy but have hardly heard Michael Jackson sing which is what he was so great at. Well it’s obvious that the music labels and record executives will churn out a lot of Michael Jackson compilations in the days to come and at least in that way some of the younger generation will get to catch the King of Music in action doing what he does best.

To me and my generation though Michael Jackson was personal. We heard him daily, we imitated him, grew our hair long like him, moonwalked like him, had his posters hanging on our bedroom walls and had all of his tapes and CDs. Back in the days of VHS I even had all of his live shows and videos too. Just this morning I was chatting about Michael Jackson’s death with a friend and both of us were feeling bad when he remarked “”feel like lost something that was integral to me” and then my friend said “growin’ old, losing bits and pieces of our lives”. That was so perfectly put. Looking back we had such a great childhood and have such great lives now, but now as we have grown up into men we find that bits and pieces of our lives are dying out and slowly leaving us. Well I guess all good things come to an end.
