Truth be told, Gmail has always supported https from the day it was launched, but it was something all of us (including myself) were not aware of. Https, if you are not aware, is a protocol that encrypts data as it is transmitted between your system/browser and the server where the data is hosted. This means no one else can access your data or read it. Banks have always employed https protocol for online banking, but this is the first time I am hearing of email being encrypted always. Encryption during signing in is employed by most of the big email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, etc., but now you can go one step ahead and encrypt your Gmail at all times. The downside to encrypting your email always i.e. turning on https protocol always for your Gmail or any other account is that https will make browsing slower and you will find Gmail loading slower because of the time it takes to encrypt and decrypt data.
Like I have stated Gmail always supported https protocol, but you needed to log in from https://mail.google.com rather than http://mail.google.com to enable https at all times. Now Gmail makes it easier for all users to turn on https at all times by enabling it right inside their Gmail in the settings option. To turn it on just select the settings option on the top right-hand corner once you are logged into your Gmail. In the General tab under Settings scroll down the page till you come to Browser connection: where you can choose between “Always use https” and “Don’t always use https”. Note, if you don’t find this option in your General tab under Settings, it means Gmail has not yet rolled out this option for you and you will have to wait awhile since they are rolling out this option to all users of Gmail in phases.

AdBrite performs better than Bidvertiser for me at least though not as good as AdSense. To tell you the truth though I have not played around with either Bidvertiser or AdBrite so I am sure they could be tweaked to perform better if time is spent on optimizing them. Read your take on Bidvertiser and its pretty informative. I need to follow them on my blog.
Free email services supporting secure transfer is really an added advantage. I am yet to use gMail, though I maintain a couple of Google accounts, never got a gmail.com ID.
(BTW:- Did you take out your Adbrite ads? I am planning to experiment with Adbrite PPC ads this whole month. After a month long trial with AdSense, and another month and a half with Bidvertiser, I want to try Adbrite now to decide on one in terms of the best CPC and CTR. Any feedback on Adbrite?)
