How To Give More When You Have Less And Benefit More Than Ever!

Tithes, Offerings, And GivingDo you know that you can give more when you have less? Read on to find out how. In Luke 21:1-4 we read the story of a widow who gave two coins while the rich were putting in their treasures and riches into the treasury. Yet, it was the widow that caught the Lord’s eye so much so that He said the widow gave more than all the rich put together had. How could that be? The widow gave two coins while the rich were putting in their treasures and riches, which would obviously be full of gold, precious jewelry, and lots of money, even so the Lord said the widow gave more than all the rich put together. This shows again that our math differs from our Heavenly Father’s for in heaven even the streets are made of gold, something we value very much and put over our heads as crowns here on Earth. How can two coins be more than tons of gold, precious jewelry, and lots of money you might ask, but the math the Lord applied of percentage here was different from the math of addition that we always apply. While we look at it from the point of addition (something we are always obsessed with, adding more to ourselves, having more, and wanting more), the Lord applied the math of percentage. For the widow the two coins were everything she had i.e. 100%. For the rich it was out of their abundance i.e. 1%, 2% or might be as high as 5% since I am sure anything higher than that will start to pinch very badly to let go (remember the parable of the rich young man from Mark 10: 17-23 who gave up heaven because he could not give up his earthly possessions). The Lord was applying the math of percentage here and the 100% the widow gave to the Lord was obviously more than the “out of abundance” giving all the rich had done. No matter how many 1% to 99% we add they are always going to be less than 100% and I am sure even though the rich gave lots in terms of quantity, they did not exceed even 10% of what they had in their giving. Let this sink in. I want you to grasp a spiritual truth here that you can actually give more to God when you have less and give less to God when you have more.

Its payday and you have gotten your paycheck and while it’s a decent amount there is no way we can give all of it or even 50% of it since we have so many responsibilities come our way every payday like rent, groceries, children’s fees, family responsibilities, mortgages, payments towards credit cards, auto finance, etc. You name it and its there in every family. Now come to the end of the month and you are desperately waiting for your paycheck and all you have with you is a couple of bucks or might be a couple of hundred bucks. How easy is it to give all of it to the Lord or at least 50% of it? Very easy and I am sure you are in agreement with this especially giving 100% of two bucks is easier than giving 100% of 200 bucks, again if you will note, the lesser the amount, the more we can part with. I hope this sinks in real good and you grasp this spiritual truth that the Holy Spirit wants to teach you so that you will start applying it in your life and start benefiting from it. We can really give more to the Lord when we are having less than when we are having more since while we look at it in terms of the quantity, the Lord looks at it in terms of percentage and our percentage will always be higher when we have less to give since we can part with all of it, but that would not be the case when we have more. Even if we have a million dollars we cannot go beyond giving 100,000 dollars which would only be 10%, but if you had only 1 dollar you could give it all that would be 100% and the Lord would say that you gave more with the 1 dollar than you did with the 100,000 dollars.

They say forewarned is forearmed and now that you are armed with this knowledge I want you to start putting it into practice. When the going is tough and finances are low remember this message and make a decision to give as much as you can to the Lord. Now I am not discounting the tithing that we need to do as soon as we receive our paycheck for that’s a command from the Lord as stated in Malachi 3:10-12. We need to give our tithes and offerings without fail so that the Lord can open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing to us so that we will not have room enough to receive it. What I am stating is that we should start looking at our giving in terms of percentage and not look at it in terms of quantity for that’s exactly the way the Lord looks and evaluates our giving.

If you have been blessed by this message and if you believe the Lord has spoken to you, then don’t just keep it to yourself. Please pass this message along to others so that they too may hear what the Holy Spirit is saying and benefit from it.
