I once read a book by Kenneth Hagin in which he described alcoholism as a demon and that it needed to be treated as such. I never thought of it much and filed this bit of information away for future use.
Recently we were called by a family where the husband had taken to drinking in a big way. By a big way I mean he would start drinking from the morning itself and continue on till late into the night. Things had reached such a stage where he had stopped going to work for the last 4 months and would spend the entire day consuming alcohol. There was constant fighting in the house and everybody in the family was estranged and on tenterhooks. It was into such a situation that we were called by a member of the family to minister and deliver the Lord Jesus Christ’s healing touch. When we walked into the house we found it to be a mess as if it had not been cleaned in days. Things were strewn about and there was darkness everywhere (physical and spiritual).
We prayed for the family and ministered the Lord Jesus Christ’s healing touch and yes we did cast out the demon of alcoholism. In other words we treated his drinking problem as demonic and satanic and not as a “drinking problem”. Needless to say we got a call a few days later from the family that the husband had stopped drinking and was back at work and things were all great and under control at the home or rather back to normal.
I’m not laying out doctrine here, but just stating what I’ve learned and how things worked out.
