A couple of days back I woke up at 2 am and could not go back to sleep again. I had gone to bed only past 11 pm with the IPL cricket matches going on, but after waking up at 2 am try as I might I could not sleep again. As is my practice I started praying in tongues and turned and tossed about on the bed. Around 3 am or so I heard loud snapping and crackling sounds and turned to see sparks emanating from the A/C power point socket. Needless to say I ran and turned off the A/C mains and made sure all electricity was turned off to the A/C so there would be no risk of anything burning down or the electrical wiring in the house going for a toss. The very next day I had the electrician over to fix things and right now as I post this I am sitting in the cold and pleasant atmosphere of the A/C running over my head despite there being sweltering Indian heat in the hot Indian summer outside. More than this though is the blessing of major disaster being averted. I have no doubts whatsoever it was the Lord who awoke me and kept me ready and prepared to turn off the A/C mains and shutdown all electricity supply and averted any serious mishap.
How would you like to be prepared and ready beforehand for any emergency so that when it comes you know exactly what to do and how to counteract it and not be caught off guard and avoid any tragedy? Read right on and I will share with you the how to go about it. I have been born again and following my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Father who sent Him, and the Holy Spirit whose baptism I have received and who now how inhabits me. I know through and through that God is a good God. There is no one or anyone who can be so good, so loving and so giving. He gave His very life for us. Then how and why do bad things happen? Even to good people? Is there a way we can know beforehand and be ready and prepared or even do something to avoid the calamities of life? Well before we get into that and find the solution let me tell you a story. You have probably heard this story a million times by now, but it is still worth getting into again. On with the story…
Think along with me for a minute now. You are sitting and can see far and wide. You see an ant that is crawling along and it is heading towards danger. Maybe it is a spider, or a bug or some other danger, but the ant cannot see that far ahead and yet is heading towards that very danger. How will you who can see ahead and far and wide and also see the danger convey this to the ant? You can lift the ant and place it in a different location and force it to change direction, but ants are very persistent creatures. They carry many times over their weight (and we cannot even carry our own weight). Because of its God given tracking system the ant will find the trail and head back to danger yet again. The only way you can speak and convey to the ant is by becoming an ant yourself and speaking in a language the ant can understand.
Our Lord Jesus Christ too did the same. He became flesh and came down from heaven to earth as a man to speak our language and convey to us in a manner that we could understand. Open the Bible and get into the Word of God to hear from Him. The Word of God is God speaking to you. Is there any other way to hear God and/or hear from God? John 4:24 says “God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth" i.e. in other words we can reach God (who is spirit) through our spirits. Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” i.e. in other words the Lord Jesus Christ is just as available and reachable today as He was when He walked this earth 2000 odd years ago. To backup a bit the Lord Jesus said in John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life” i.e. in other words the Word of God is spirit and it is life. Of course all of this leads to we can hear God and from God through His Word. The other way we can hear God and hear from God is through His Spirit the Holy Spirit. However, be warned that the Holy Spirit will never contradict the Word of God and its absolutely essential you know the Word of God for yourself if you are endeavoring to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit for yourself. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God agree, always! It was not just in this matter of the electrical wiring going wrong. In other and more important matters too I have always had the guidance of the Lord Jesus Christ available to me always. It has always been me who has decided whether I want to hear from the Lord Jesus Christ and obey Him or go my own way. The Lord Jesus Christ is always available and an ever present help. It’s up to us to decide to seek guidance and to obey Him so go ahead and draw on the Lord’s wisdom and guidance to tackle all of life’s problems. Two things that will help you to hear from the Lord Jesus Christ and to hear clearly are reading and knowing the Word of God for yourself and spending hours praying in tongues (praying in the spirit).
