A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor. The doctor says, "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what’s the problem?" The mother says, "It’s my daughter Darla. She keeps getting these cravings, she’s putting on weight, and is sick most mornings." The doctor gives Darla a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I don’t know how to tell you this, but your Darla is pregnant – about 4 months, would be my guess." The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can’t be, she has never ever been left alone with a man! Have you, Darla?" Darla says, "No mother! I’ve never even kissed a man!" The doctor walks over to the window and just stares out of it. About five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doctor?" The doctor replies, "No, not really, it’s just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and three wise men came over the hill. I’ll be damned if I’m going to miss it this time!"
I know, I know, jokes aside, the events described by the doctor did take place roughly 2000 years ago. It was a virgin birth that divided history into two parts B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini i.e. In the Year of Our Lord Jesus Christ). No other birth has done it and none will. Yet I came across a book in which the author was talking about the modern day church and how it was filled with and run by skeptics. Yes skeptics who did not believe in the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, never mind they are pastors, shepherds, clergymen, etc. In fact the book goes on to say many don’t believe the Lord Jesus Christ walked on water, but rather that He walked on shallow ankle deep water (never mind they fail to explain how the boat with the disciples was sinking in ankle deep water let alone crossing the waters), that our Lord Jesus Christ did not turn water to wine, did not heal the sick, did not cast out demons, and did not even raise Lazarus from the dead. In fact many believe that Moses crossed the desert with only a handful of people and not the millions as per the Biblical account.
So the question that begs to be asked is this? How strong is your faith? Who do you believe? As for me and my house – Joshua 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Yes as for me and my house we will serve and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
