While on our way for our morning dance class and exercise, my mom threw a flying kiss at a picture of her favorite hero that was put up on a hoarding.
I heard myself asking her this question – Have you kissed Jesus today?
She smiled and we continued to go on.
This got me thinking. We do not offer kisses to strangers. We offer a kiss to someone we know really well.
A kiss can be romantic in nature, or can be to express fondness, love, care, friendship, etc.
How often do we throw flying kisses to people we really love like family, friends, people we adore, movie stars, cricket players, etc.? I am not sure we can even keep a count of it.
What exactly does a kiss convey? Well, it conveys to the other person that you love and care for him or her. A kiss is an expression we use to tell a loved one how much he or she means to us.
What does the Bible talk about a kiss? The Bible talks about greeting one another with a holy kiss in Romans 16:16; 1 Cor 16:20; 2 Cor 13:12; 1 Thes 5:26; and 1 Peter 5:14.
During the Bible days, a kiss was a way of greeting. This greeting was of two types – a peck on the palm of one’s hand if you are not so well acquainted with the person, and a peck on one’s cheek which was to show you know the person very well.
Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss on the cheek. (Luke 22:48).
The actress, Drew Barrymore, a journalist in the movie “Never Been Kissed” writes a splendid article and laments that she has never been kissed in high school by her boyfriend. It is her English teacher who finally kisses her to confirm his love for her.
Well, did you know that Jesus is always showering his kisses on you? Whether we are aware of this fact or not He is doing that to each one of His children.
If Jesus were to stand before you today, how would you greet Him? The type of greeting will also reveal how well we know Him – either a mere acquaintance or someone we know dearly and intimately.
Would we greet him with an antagonistic kiss like Judas or would we lament for him and return His love with kisses that would express that we do want to have an intimate relationship with Him and that our life without Him would be meaningless.
The woman in Luke 7 did not stop kissing Jesus (Luke 7:45). She would do much better to outdo any of the present day ardent fans of movie stars or cricket players we come across.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus is looking for sons and daughters who would kiss Him each day and express their love and gratitude to Him. Sons and daughters who are true worshippers seeking Him each day of their lives and living a life that brings Him glory.
Will Jesus find us kissing Him more than we kiss our heroes, movie stars and cricket stars? Only each of us personally can answer this question truthfully.

The love of the Lord J'esus is so amazing an dpowerfull that one has not enough to receive in one's life. But at the end of one's life if this person has been faithful to Him, then J'esus will shower him with the fullness of His kisses and His love. And trust me on that, there is NOTHING LIKE IT IN THIS WIDE WORLD!
