Well unless you are hiding under the proverbial rock or have just returned from Mars you should be aware that Google is now making mobiles i.e. the Google Phone. Reactions have been pretty predictable from all quarters – from not an iPhone killer to Google’s world domination to privacy issues and so on, but the dumbest one was from PC World where the reviewer was throwing his ire at engineers from Googleplex never mind the phone and its hardware is from HTC of Taiwan (well at least I’m smarter than the tech geek who works for PC World). I for one would love to lay my hands on the Nexus One, but unfortunately India is not yet on Google’s selling list.
The idea does appeal to me, just visit Google and order a mobile, cannot say it gets any easier than this. The way Google is going about it everybody will be happy too. Google markets and sells HTC phones (soon others like Motorola probably), makes sure they run on Android OS (beats the competition like Apple), stays ahead or at least gets a foot into the world of mobile advertising and keep all Google users like me happy. Maybe it is time I called my friends and relatives in the U.S. to see if anyone can ship me an unlocked Nexus One.
