I use Twitter and yes I have a Facebook account too along with a plethora of online and social networks. But I never used them for anything other than to touch bases with friends, relatives and colleagues or maybe even find and make new friends. One cannot even begin to imagine the extent to which such social networks have invaded our lives. I was just reading on this topic and here is what a cursory search came up with.
