Chicken Parcels Recipe!

I started off with preparing this per the recipe given with the National Panasonic Rice Cooker that is sold in India, but however as I went along, I ended up creating my own recipe and making subtle changes and the end result was very delicious to say the least. You need to try this out for yourself and surprise your family with a delicious treat. It is easy to prepare, healthy since it’s steamed, looks very good and will be appreciated by everyone. Go ahead and give it a shot!

Chicken Parcels Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Chicken pieces 8
  • Garlic 8 to 10 pods
  • Ginger 3 cm piece
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Red Chilies 3
  • Pepper corns 1 tsp
  • Fennel 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon 5 cm
  • Cloves 3
  • Lime Juice 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Mint leaves ¼ cup chopped

Method:

Remove the skin from the chicken pieces. Wash and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel. Prick the pieces with a fork. Chop the ginger and the garlic. Heat oil in a small pan and fry the chopped ginger and the garlic till slightly brown. Drain all of it. In the remaining oil fry all the ingredients from chilies to cloves. Grind all the ingredients with lime juice, mint and salt. Apply this paste to the chicken pieces and marinate for 1 hour. Pour 2 cups of water in the cooking pan of the electric cooker and turn on the switch to start cooking. Make parcels with each of the pieces by wrapping them in pieces of aluminum foil. Seal the parcels well. Place the parcels in the steamer and cover with the lid and steam for about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve in the foil with fried rice, noodles or pulao.

  1. This one sounds really yummy, will try it soon :-) And it must be really healthy with all skin taken out and just 1tb spoon oil getting in there. Try adding a pinch of MSG while marinating, it should give it a special taste along with all marinades.

Tip: If you prepared something has come out really good, take a digital snap ASAP and add it to the post here as well… That will make more mouths water.

Ajith, this one was way too tasty to even describe it. Do try it out, you will love it. Coming to the photos, yes I am taking snaps and posting them along with the recipe, but missed out on this one. I guess at that time the idea of blogging about it did not come…
