I have read the said blog and I could not really find anything offensive or even anything remotely looking like jealousy being directed at Slumdog Millionaire, which is what Mr. Bachchan is being accused of. Guess it’s the media that wants to start a flame war for their own benefit.
I do, however, agree with what Mr. Bachchan has said in his blog “If SM projects India as Third World dirty under belly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky under belly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations. Its just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not.” There you go, nothing really offensive here or nothing that reeks of jealousy either. Only the naked truth about India that has got a lot of people incensed for no reason at all. I only wonder why only the negatives about India are shown abroad and then considered worthy of awards. There is no much good in my India, but it never gets shown or highlighted abroad. Aah! Some things never change…

He has been quoted out of context. You need to read the entire text. He happened to be in Paris and he was mobbed by beggars. That’s when he made this statement that developed countries also have underbellies
He wouldn't have commented like this, if had been part of this movie.
Yeah, you are right. I am sure he would be singing a different song if it was his movie.
Well, I loved the movie very much.. but I didnt like the way they showed India which looks disgusting, it sure ruins our reputation, especially Mumbai's.. Btw.. but the movie rocks!
My wife liked the movie, but I did not. Too much realism for me.
